World Breastfeeding Week: FAWE Lauds Gov. Sule For Establishment Of Second Chance Vocational School Akwanga.

As the World marks “World Breast Feeding Week” from 1-7 August, 2023, Women in Nasarawa State have been called upon to take good care of their breast which serves as the first point of contact for children during their first six months in the world and beyond.

The call was made by Forum of African Women Educationist (FAWE) Nasarawa State branch, a Non governmental organization, at the Second Chance Vocational Model School, Akwanga, Thursday.

FAWE Nasarawa state coordinator Dr Talatu Ombugadu made this known during her opening remark to the students, saying in order to mark the World Breast Feeding Week, the body chose an institution meant for women learning skills, thereby commending Gov. Abdullahi Sule for making it a reality.

“World breastfeeding day is a globally celebrated week for nursing mothers and we are here to observe it as part of the celebration and to give you the Importance of it.”

Earlier, Programme Coordinator Second Chance Vocational Model School, Akwanga, Dr Augustina Ombugadu, appreciated FAWE for picking the institution and sensitizing the women on breastfeeding and Maximizing second chance.

She further added that the institution runs eight programs for one hundred and sixty (160) students, thereby appreciating Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the interest shown towards the women.
She appleded that girls who are between ages 15-20 be sponsored back to school.

“We sincerely thank the Governor of Nasarawa State Engr Abdullahi Sule for the interest he has for the Girl child, it is our earnest prayer that the young girls who are ages 15-20 and really have the passion for education, the state government should provide scholarship for them to go back to school”

Mrs Mike Ruth and Mrs Hanatu LoKo who were the resource persons spoke on “Importance of Second Chance Education” and “Breast Feeding and Menstruation” charged the women to maintain a good hygiene for the benefits of their children, born or unborn.

Highlight of the Forum of African Women Educationist (FAWE) Nasarawa State branch visit to mark the World Breast Feeding Week at Second Chance Vocational Model School, Akwanga, was a Facility Tour, Drama and song Presentation by students and distribution of Sanitary Pad and Baby diapers by FAWE.
