Larry Ven-Bawa member representing Akwanga North at the Nasarawa state house of Assembly says he’s deeply sad by the rain storm which destroyed private residences and worship centers in his constituency, on the 31st March 2024.Mr Ven-Bawa made this known when he led officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on an on the spot assessment of affected areas .”What informed my decision is the kind of representation I represent, When it is good you are there when it is bad you are there, imagine these large scale disaster, how can you sleep, we resumed sitting yesterday, I ought to be there today however i boycotted with a permission to be here, NEMA honored I and my people by assessing the destroyed areas. I will not go to sleep until they bring the relief materials”

According to hon. Ven-Bawa 275 houses were partially damaged while 87 houses including some Churches were completely damaged in 6 communities in the Constituency.
On his part, NEMA , North Central Zonal Public Relations Officer Mr Audu Yohana said they would submit their report having seen the level of disaster and confirming the letter and pictures sent by the member when it happened on the 31st March, 2024, thereby promising those affected that relief would come thier way in a month time.
“As soon as the disaster happened the member quickly sent a letter to NEMA, we ought to have been here earlier, however we told him after sallah due to some challenges, we have gone round and seen everything, what is left for us now is to send our report, the level of disaster is beyond the Local Government and Akwanga North constituency…. NEMA has no business with politics and in a month time relief would come there way..” He said
In reaction to the Windstorm destruction, the Chun Mada Pst. Samson Gamu Yare and Amb. Habila Aboki Chim Nku both appreciated NEMA and Hon Larry Ven-Bawa for coming to the aid of those affected, they further used the occasion of the visit to thier palaces to sensitize the affected communities to imbibe the culture of tree plating and avoid deforestation.

Some of the affected communities include: Ningo Sambe, Dancha, Kobur, Ninga, Adde” and Nunku respectively.
