We are Set To give Basketball a Facelift In Nasarawa State–BA Chairman Tijani Ayuba …NBBF Zenith Women’s Basketball League, Nasarawa Amazon’s Loses 6 Out of 7 Games .

With the conclusion of NBBF Zenith Women’s Basketball League First Phase, Ayuba Tijani Nasarawa State Basketball Chairman has reiterated the association long time plan of improving the game in the state.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation Zenith Women’s League saw 8-teams in the Savannah conference slug it out at the Lafia Sports Arena formerly known as Lafia City Hall.

According to Mr Tijani the Association will soon Organize grassroot games.

With the end of this competition we are going to host Secondary Schools and Tertiary institution games on in no distance time, and the Andoma peace and Unity Basketball tournament by the corner which involves Male and Female ” he added.

On how He feels about hosting phase one of the League, he praised Gov. Abduallhi Sule for the fixing the sports Arena which drew the attention of NBBF.

In terms of Nasarawa Amazon’s losing all Six matches out of Seven, he attributed it to lack of camping and short notice of the League commencement.

“We didn’t have a camp for the Girls to blend together, last year we had victories in Zaira, Jos and a lose in Lafia, however we will be going into two weeks camping ahead of phase two commencement in Abuja (22-28 September 2024).

On his part Coach Emmanuel Danjuma Mwarak who had a bitter expression on his face, said this was his team worst performance, however he confirmed that four new players have been added to the team ahead of phase two in Abuja, he further added that the team is made up with rookies who are playing for the first time with only two players having the league experience.

Captain Faith Jeremiah and Chiamka Onwuzurike of Nasarawa Amazon’s both expressed thier readiness to do better in phase two.

“The team last season had lots of experience players and that aided us, however this season we are having more of rookies, however in Abuja we will give our best if we are camped”. Faith added

“Hmmm it’s quite tough because we played with teams that are way better then us, however we tried, personally I had a crazy time on court being the drive which will be instrumental in Abuja ” Rookies Chiamka Onwuzurike added.
