Nasarawa state government has once more warned against encroachment into the States Sports Academy in Akwanga.

Amb. Lucky Yargwa commissioner Ministry of Youths and Sports Development made this known on Thursday 18th May 2023 at the school’s premises when he paid an unscheduled visit to the contractor handling the renovations of four blocks of Classrooms, two Offices , building of Dinning Hall and renovation of Examination hall.

Amb. Yargwa further expressed his sadness at the slow pace of work, thereby reassuring the principal of the Academy that the contractor would be back on site to complete the renovations within the four months time mark.

“The Contract was awarded some months ago, we handed over the site to the contractor, we have seen some of the work he has started , I would say am not certified with the work, because base on what was on our MOU the work could have gone far, although we have spoken to the contractor, he assured us that he would return to site “

On his part, principal of Sports Academy Mr Williams Aloko expressed his pleasure at the unscheduled visit of the commissioner to the Academy and the contractor handling the project, he further pleaded that the state government should tackle the issue of encroachment on the school premises and also requesting that the school be fenced.

“We want to thank God for this Intervention, haven’t thanked His excellency for the good work his has been doing, we in Nasarawa state sports Academy have some challenges and I feel the Governor should be aware, first is the issue of land encroachment in the school and are appealing with the state government to come in, once this is done the challenge is over “
