National Youth Games: Powerful Boy Yusuf Abdullahi Ends Team Nasarawa Medal Boxing Hope With Injury

Yusuf Abdullahi Team Nasarawa 42kg Boxer and medal hopeful is sadden that his run in the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba Delta State came to end quickly.
Yusuf Abdullahi had on Saturday defeated Enugu Maxwell Aniwake after the Referee Stopped the Contest due to his superiority over his opponent.
While speaking to Option Radio correspondent, the 12 year old who had every assurance of bringing a medal back Home to Nasarawa State, had his dreams cut short due to injury sustained on his thumb. ” My left thumb is sllown and the pain is much, I sustained it after my first bout with my counterpart from Enugu.”

Yusuf Abdullahi got on the ring despite the injury, however when the bell rang, Mr Agubiade Babatunde the center referee stop the bout before it commenced due to the injury and health wise.
On how he feels not boxing against Roqeeb Adekunle from Oyo. “I feel sad not boxing, however I believe I can beat him” Yusuf Abdullahi added.

On his part Coach Nnamdi Osuji who appeared sad, said it was for the best that the bout didn’t happen, however his happy that the two Boxers he took to the games have garnerd experience. ” They have only trained three weeks with me and they are new to the sport, they gave a good account of themselves am proud of them, we will continue our training in Lafia “
To be recall, Usman Musa who fought in the 44kg category lost his bout to Roqeeb Ojakojo from Ogun on Friday.
