Over Hundred Golfers Gathered in Lafia To Celebrate Tony Effa At 60

Architect John Mlanga, a member of Lafia and Ibb Golf clubs, emerge best net of 66, in category one at Tony Effa 60 popularly known as Uncle T, birthday kitty at the Lafia Golf club, the best gross went to Timothy Okangbe from Makurdi Golf club with 79, while the runner up John Izang of Lamimgo Golf club , Jos played a net of 70.


Best net for the ladies was won by Grace Luka from Rayfield Jos, with 68 beating Nguna Kar of Makurdi Golf club and Dorcas Malle of Lafia Golf club on count back.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Uncle T birthday kitty, the deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, said the game of golf to him remains the best outdoor sport one can play at all ages, urging for more education to bring many people into the game of golf.


Dr Akabe reitereted his promise of converting the browns to greens as discussions are on top gear with the management of the club.

The Deputy governor said the funding of the club by government through monthly subvention for it running will commence next month all thing been equal.
He however challenge the club to make good use of the clubhouse which he described as state of the art, by thinking of a business concerns that will give more funding to the club.
Eulogizing the celebrant Tony Effa, the Deputy governor said he is a lucky man having attracted golfers from over fives States across the country, gracing the club in his honour and prayed for more strength as he continues to age gracefully.


Appreciating all who who came to honour him Tony Effa (Uncle T) who is the maintenance officer of the club, said he is overwhelmed by the show of love by all who through various means supported and graced the occasion.
The birthday kitty in honour of Tony Effa at 60, over the weekend,featured over a hundred golfers across the country.
